The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Valencia, in collaboration with the "House of the Mediterranean" Foundation, hosted a literary gathering on April 29 in Alicante. This event, dedicated to Moroccan literature penned in Spanish, aimed to foster cultural dialogue between Morocco and Spain.
The event attracted a prominent assembly of writers, intellectuals, and professionals from the publishing and media sectors of both countries. They engaged in discussions about the current landscape and future potential of contemporary Moroccan-Spanish literature and its significance in promoting cultural understanding across the Mediterranean.
During the opening session, speeches were delivered by Said El Idrissi El Bouzidi, Consul General of Morocco in Valencia, and Andrés Berio, ambassador of the "House of the Mediterranean" Foundation. Both speakers highlighted the pivotal role of literature in bridging cultures and facilitating dialogue among nations.
The Consul General emphasized that this cultural initiative is part of the vibrant expansion of Moroccan literature in Spanish, reflecting the consulate's dedication to supporting cultural projects that fortify connections between Morocco and the Spanish community.

Andrés Berio underscored literature's capacity to promote values of understanding and openness, furthering cultural integration within the Mediterranean region.
Under the theme "Contemporary Moroccan-Spanish Literature: Cultural Bridges and Shared Identities," the meeting featured four roundtables addressing topics such as Moroccan literature in Spanish, Morocco's portrayal in Spanish literature, and future prospects for literary publishing in this domain. Participants also shared testimonials from authors of both nations.
The event included cultural highlights, such as an oud music performance, a showcase of traditional Moroccan pastries, and a book exhibition celebrating the diversity of Moroccan literary works available in Spanish.

The gathering was supported by several publishing houses and cultural organizations, including "Diwan," "Nota Los Margenes," and "Ediciones del Oriente y del Mediterráneo."
The meeting concluded with the launch of new publications, including the magazine "Dafater" and a collective book featuring contributions from the participants, marking a significant step towards enhancing the visibility of Moroccan-Spanish literature in the Mediterranean cultural sphere.
