The first high-service-level bus line, «Amalway Agadir Tram Bus», officially began operations on Thursday as part of efforts to modernize urban transport and promote sustainable mobility in Agadir.
According to the Greater Agadir Urban Transport and Mobility Company, the project aims to provide modern and safe public transportation through dedicated bus lanes designed to reduce travel time and improve schedule reliability.
The first line connects the Port of Agadir to the Tikiouine district, passing through several key hubs via 35 modern stations. The fleet is equipped with comfort amenities, accessibility features for people with disabilities, as well as surveillance and safety systems.
The company said the project also aligns with sustainable development goals by helping reduce pollutant emissions and noise pollution, while enhancing Agadir’s attractiveness as both a tourist and urban destination.
The project was developed through a partnership involving the Ministry of the Interior, the Souss-Massa region, and the Agadir municipality, with financial and technical support from the Agence Française de Développement.
