Heavy snowfall and rain forecast in Morocco Friday and Saturday

Heavy snowfall and strong rainfall are expected on Friday and Saturday in several provinces across Morocco, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said.

In an orange-level weather alert, the DGM forecast snowfall ranging between 10 and 25 cm at elevations above 2,000 meters from Friday at 6 p.m. until Saturday at 10 a.m. in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Azilal, Midelt, Tinghir, and Al Haouz.

The agency also warned of heavy rainfall ranging from 20 to 40 mm, accompanied by possible thunderstorms, during the same period in the provinces of Tinghir, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Azilal, Béni Mellal, and Midelt.

The same weather conditions are expected on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the provinces of Errachidia, Boulemane, and Figuig, the DGM added.
