Moroccan doctors based in Germany have set up their own association, the Marokkanischer Ärzteverein Deutschland (MÄD), during the first Moroccan Doctors’ Day in the country, held on Saturday in Langenselbold, near Frankfurt.
The gathering took place in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Germany, Zohour Alaoui. It brought together nearly 200 participants, including representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the department in charge of Moroccans living abroad, the Cheikh Zaid Foundation, the Consulate General of Morocco in Frankfurt, as well as the president of Morocco’s National Council of the Order of Physicians.
The association aims to bring the medical community together around mutual support, the sharing of experience and professional guidance, MÄD Secretary-General Oussama Bouayad told MAP. It also seeks to strengthen bridges between Moroccan medical expertise in Germany and the health system in Morocco, through the sharing of know-how, academic exchanges and the transfer of skills across medical specialties.
According to Oussama Bouayad, MÄD currently has 77 official members. It regularly organizes medical activities and training sessions, drawing between 100 and 150 participants each month. These sessions, he said, cover several specialties and are designed to help practitioners strengthen their knowledge while encouraging the exchange of experience among Moroccan professionals in Germany and Morocco.
MÄD intends to support Moroccan students and young doctors in their training and professional development, while helping to strengthen ties with Moroccan medical institutions and promote a dynamic that benefits Morocco’s health sector.
