Police in Meknes, working in coordination with their counterparts in Al Hoceima and acting on precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested a 21-year-old man in the early hours of Saturday, May 16. He is suspected of involvement in a case related to the theft of money from a currency exchange office.

The suspect, along with another individual, allegedly stole a sum of money from a currency exchange office in Al Hoceima after threatening staff with a bladed weapon. The incident was captured in a video that circulated on social media platforms late last week.

According to a security source, technical investigations and field inquiries led to the identification of the two suspects before one of them was arrested during a police operation carried out in the city of Meknes.

The arrested suspect has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine all the circumstances, details, and motives behind the case. Investigations are ongoing to arrest the second suspect, whose identity has already been established.
