Several cities in Morocco are experiencing an unusual proliferation of mosquitoes and flying insects, linked in particular to recent weather disruptions, with alternating rainy, humid spells and heatwaves creating conditions for rapid reproduction. After rainfall, stagnant water and damp areas become ideal places for egg-laying. Heat, in turn, speeds up hatching.

The phenomenon, which remains seasonal, is often accompanied by spraying operations carried out by local authorities in urban areas, as recent images from Ksar El Kebir, Nador, Beni Mellal and Attaouia have shown. In other regions, this period is also marked by rat-control campaigns, as well as efforts to curb the spread of crawling insects.
