The fifth edition of the High-Level Meeting of African Heads of Counterterrorism and Security Agencies, known as the «Marrakech Platform», opened on Tuesday in El Jadida under the co-chairmanship of Morocco and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
The two-day event brings together representatives from around 40 African intelligence and security services, as well as 90 observer delegations from the Middle East, Europe, the Americas and Asia. Representatives of regional United Nations institutions are also taking part.
Held against a backdrop of persistent and evolving terrorist threats across Africa, the meeting follows previous editions hosted in Marrakech (2022), Tangier (2023), Fez (2024) and Agadir (2025).
The strong participation of African countries and international partners highlights the growing importance of the Marrakech Platform, which has established itself as a key forum for sharing expertise, strengthening regional cooperation and identifying capacity-building priorities in the fight against terrorism across the continent.
