Swedish group Trelleborg, a global leader in polymer-based solutions, inaugurated a new aerospace sealing systems manufacturing facility on Tuesday at Midparc in Nouaceur.
The project represents an investment of nearly 130 million dirhams and is expected to create between 150 and 200 jobs in the long term. It will expand Morocco’s aerospace value chain, increase sourcing from local suppliers, strengthen the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers, and generate highly skilled employment opportunities.
At the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour said the investment aligns with Morocco’s strategy to raise local integration rates in the aerospace sector and further embed the kingdom in global aviation supply chains.
«The establishment of Trelleborg’s second production site in Morocco reflects the confidence of a global leader in the kingdom and marks the beginning of a promising industrial partnership», Mezzour said. He added that Morocco is well positioned to become a key platform for the group’s activities across Africa and the EMEA region.
The minister noted that this momentum extends beyond aerospace to strategic sectors such as rail transport, engineering, research and development, renewable energy, and green hydrogen.
Trelleborg CEO Peter Nilson described the new facility as an important milestone for the group. He said the investment would strengthen the company’s support for major aerospace manufacturers, including Safran and Airbus, as well as other industrial partners operating in Morocco.
Attending the ceremony, Midparc CEO Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi said Trelleborg’s arrival would further strengthen Morocco’s aerospace ecosystem and support the sector’s next phase of growth by bringing additional technology, innovation, and added value.
The investment follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the Moroccan government and Trelleborg during the Marrakech Air Show 2024, held from October 30 to November 3.
