A heatwave, thunderstorms, strong wind gusts and localized hail are expected to affect several Moroccan provinces from Thursday through Saturday, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
In an orange-level weather alert, the DGM said temperatures are expected to range between 41°C and 44°C in the provinces of Errachidia, Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Boujdour, Aousserd and Oued Ed-Dahab during this period.
The agency also forecast thunderstorms bringing between 20 and 25 mm of rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and occasional hail, on Thursday between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the provinces of Boulemane, Jerada and Figuig.
Meanwhile, the provinces of Tangier-Assilah and Fahs-Anjra are expected to experience strong wind gusts of 75 to 80 km/h from Thursday at 11 a.m. until Friday at 11 p.m., the statement added.
