The Dar Al Maghrib Moroccan Cultural Centre in Amsterdam hosted its first artistic and cultural event on Saturday, marking the launch of a series of activities aimed at promoting Moroccan culture and strengthening intercultural dialogue between Morocco and the Netherlands.
Held in the presence of Ismail Lamghari, Secretary-General of the department in charge of Moroccans living abroad, and Morocco’s ambassador to The Hague, Mohamed El Basri, the ceremony brought together around 100 guests. Representatives from the Dutch cultural and artistic scene, local authorities, and members of the Moroccan community in the Netherlands were also in attendance.
According to the Moroccan embassy in The Hague, Dar Al Maghrib is part of a broader program to establish Moroccan cultural centers abroad. Its aim is to showcase the richness and diversity of Morocco’s cultural heritage on the international stage.
During the gathering, speakers highlighted the role of culture in preserving national identity, passing it on to younger generations, and strengthening ties between the two countries.
The event featured musical performances, including an Andalusian music group from Amsterdam and an orchestra performing several pieces from the Moroccan folk repertoire.
