Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh held talks on Tuesday in Rabat with the president of Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, to strengthen cooperation between Morocco and Kuwait in the field of civil aviation.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 29th General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), focused on enhancing coordination in air navigation safety and security while exploring ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
In a statement to MAP, Kayouh said the talks provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strong historical ties between the two countries. He added that discussions centered on reactivating the Kuwait–Casablanca air route, noting that Royal Air Maroc plans to relaunch the service as soon as it takes delivery of its new generation of long-haul aircraft.
For his part, Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah said the two sides also discussed expanding air connectivity between Kuwait and Morocco ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal, to accommodate the expected increase in tourist flows between the Kingdom and the Gulf region.
The General Assembly concluded with the election of members to the organization's main governing bodies for the 2026–2028 term, including the General Assembly, the Executive Council and the technical committees. Khalid Cherkaoui was also appointed as the new Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization.
