47°C heatwave to grip parts of Morocco until Saturday

Temperatures of up to 47°C are expected to hit several parts of Morocco between Tuesday and Saturday, according to an orange-level weather alert issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

A heatwave with temperatures ranging from 45°C to 47°C is forecast from Wednesday to Friday in the provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Tata, Zagora, Errachidia, and Aousserd.

Another heatwave, with temperatures between 42°C and 45°C, is expected from Thursday to Saturday in Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Marrakech, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Khénifra, Taounate, Ouezzane, Taroudant, Sidi Kacem, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, and El Kelaa des Sraghna.

The DGM also forecast hot weather with temperatures of 45°C to 47°C on Tuesday in Zagora, Tata, and Assa-Zag.

Temperatures between 42°C and 45°C are expected on Wednesday in Fquih Ben Salah, Taroudant, El Kelaa des Sraghna, and Beni Mellal, and from Thursday to Friday in Laâyoune, Tarfaya, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan.

The same temperature range is forecast for Friday and Saturday in Sidi Slimane, Benslimane, Khémisset, Meknès, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Guercif, and Taza.

Meanwhile, Essaouira and Sidi Ifni are expected to experience hot weather with temperatures ranging from 39°C to 42°C on Thursday.
