Another terrorist cell dismantled in Morocco

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday 10th of May that the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) have managed to dismantle yesterday and today a terrorist cell composed of six individuals in connection with «the Islamic State». The arrests have been actively operating in all of Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, Marrakech and Safi according to the Ministry’s communiqué.

Primary investigations suggest that the alleged terrorists took part of a propaganda campaign conducted in favor of the terrorist group and have been planning attacks on Morocco in the name of Daech.

The suspects, according to the same source were trained by Daech fighters who have helped them gain skills in fabricating bombs and Molotov cocktails with the objective of targeting vital sites in the kingdom. They also had electronic and explosive devices, masks, and knives. The six suspects will be brought to justice immediately after the end of the investigation conducted by the prosecutor's office, the statement said.

In another communiqué reported by the Turkish news agency, Anadolu, the Moroccan Ministry of interior declared that 1,631 are fighting for terrorist groups. The Ministry reveals that 864 Moroccan nationals have left the country to join Daech in Iraq and Syria. Based on the same source, 558 had died in battles in the warzones while 284 women and 333 children moved to Syria and Iraq.
