The Cherifian Office of Phosphates (OCP) and its subsidiary Phosboucraa broke silence following the seizure of a phosphate vessel in South Africa. The Moroccan leading company reacted to the hearing in the African country indicating that : «the allegations of the petitioners are unfounded and are initiated to divert the international political process». A process that «is handed to the United Nations Security Council», Map news agency reports.
«The hearing took place yesterday 18th Mai 2017. OCP and Phosboucraa have declared to the court that the allegations are inappropriately trying to divert the international political process currently managed by the United Nations Security Council. At the end of the hearing, judges will pronounce their decision on 9th of july. We are convinced that the legal basis and facts are in our favor».
Phosboucraa will continue operating as a responsible contributor to strengthening the regional economy, improving the quality of life of the local population and ensuring a more promising future, the two entities said in their statement.
For the record, a second Moroccan phosphate vessel destined to Canada was detained on Wednesday in the Panama Canal. The information was reported by the pro-Polisario separatist group website Western Sahara Ressources Watch.
