Princess Lalla Salma, President of the Lalla Salma Foundation - Prevention and Treatment of Cancer, accompanied by Princess Lalla Khadija, received the gold medal of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Thursday in Rabat.

WHO Director-General Margareth Chan has awarded Princess Lalla Salma the organization's medal in recognition of her work and commitment to the fight against cancer in Morocco and around the world.

Lalla Salma, WHO Goodwill Ambassador for the Promotion and Prevention of Cancer Care, has been working hard to make the fight against cancer a public health priority in the world.

The WHO Medal, awarded at the end of the term of the WHO Director-General, was handed by Dr. Margareth Chan to four other personalities worldwide for their significant role in the field of health.

These include Princess Mary of Denmark, President of Uruguay, Tabaré Vazquez, former Mayor of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Yohei Sasakawa, President of the Nippon Foundation (Leprosy Elimination).

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Fikri, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO), members of the Board of Directors, the Scientific Council and the Directorate General of the Lalla Salma Foundation.
