Kigali : The Moroccan national football team to participate in the Genocide memorial tournament

The Moroccan national football team will participate in the second edition of the Genocide memorial tournament organized from the 1st to the 4th of June 2017 in Kigali, Rwanda, NewTimes reports today.

«Morocco has confirmed their participation, but we expect more activities to confirm before the tournament starts», states an official in Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) to the same source.

Morocco has been invited to attend the yearly event along with other African countries namely Guinea Conakry, Equatorial Guinea, Togo, Congo Brazzaville, Libya, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Gabon, Liberia, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria.

This tournament is organized to commemorate the 1994 genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda. In April of the same year reports of systematic mass murder within the African country began to filter out an circulate throughout the world. Around 800,000 were killed because of tribal-based ethnic violence, with the Tutsis the victims and the Hutus as the perpetrators.
