Two men were stabbed to death Friday 26th May on a crowded commuter train in Portland, Oregon's largest city in the USA after defending two Muslim women that were bullied by a passenger, US police said as reported by Aljazeera.
The suspect was yelling racial and anti-Muslim slurs at two Muslim women when he got confronted by two men. The stabbing occurred on a Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) light-rail train, CNN indicates adding that one victim died immediately while the second died in the hospital. Trying to stop the bullying, a third train passenger was severely injured and was taken to the hospital, the same source points out.
The suspect, reportedly called the two girls names and racially assaulted them. «We do not know if the suspect was drunk, on medication, had mental issues or anything else», Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson told CNN.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) urged, speaking to the same source, President Donald Trump to raise awareness regarding the acts of violence against Muslims in the USA.
