The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Hassad, has announced that French language will be taught on the first year of the elementary public schools, Media 24 reports.

The learning of the language will be applied by the beginning of the upcoming school year. Speaking to former students of HEC School in a debate organized on Thursday 15th of June in Casablanca Mohamed Hassad confirmed that as a first step, pupils will be given the chance to learn and practice oral French.

The information was announced during an oral question session in the house of representative. On Tuesday, the Minister declared that his department will focus during the next school term on the development of pupils, the human capital and the necessary infrastructure for schools.

«Starting from the upcoming school year and for the first time, the second foreign language will be taught in the first grade», he stated. «This step goes hand in hand with the strategic vision conducted by the Ministry. The program will be revealed in a month or a month and a half before being applied by the government», he concluded.
