The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations managed on Thursday to dismantle a terrorist cell connected to the so-called «Islamic State» which included four extremists and operates in the city of Essaouira.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the raid, which is part of the efforts put forward to counter terrorist threats aimed at undermining the security and stability of the Kingdom, resulted in the seizure of a series of knives and electronic devices, in addition to a manuscript in which the members of this cell swear allegiance to the «Islamic State».

Investigations, according to the same source, indicate that the suspects allegedly planned to carry out several terrorist attacks against sensitive installations and tourist sites in the city of Essaouira.

In response to the inflammatory calls of this terrorist organization, members of the cell also intended to expand their terrorist operations targeting other cities in the Kingdom.

The report concluded that the suspects would be brought to justice immediately once the investigation conducted by the Public Prosecution office is over.
