The Assize Court in Milan sentenced a Moroccan to four years' imprisonment and granted extenuating circumstances for planning acts of terrorism on the behalf of the «Islamic State», according to Ansa news agency.
Nadir Benchorfi, 30, was arrested in December. He planned to carry out a terrorist attack targeting a shopping center in Arese (Il Centro), a commune in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 12 kilometers northwest of Milan, where he used to work.
Benchorfi lived for a while in Germany as an ISIS militant, it is believed that he met there fighters from the terrorist organization to plan the attacks in Italy. Once he returned, he kept contact with them and also sent money to areas of conflict to support Jihad, the Corriere della Sera online newspaper indicated.
