The demonstration that took place in Rabat yesterday in front of the Parliament and in solidarity with the Hirak detainees has been met with a brutal response from the authorities. Several pictures and videos currently trending on social networks display women being hit and knocked down.

«While having come to disperse the crowds that had formed in the garden in front of the entrance to the Parliament, helmet and baton-wielding police have hit the protesters, also attacking the journalists who were present to provide media coverage of the event», indicates for its part Le Desk, according to eyewitnesses.

Moreover, Ahmed Rachid, a photographer for Lakome2 online newspaper has been «seized from his equipment and beaten up». Even passers by who were simply in the area have been beaten. According to the same source: «Around 15 people of all ages have been injured, some have even been evacuated by an ambulance».
