Morocco signed a visa-free travel agreement with Malaysia

The Moroccan and Malaysian governments have signed an agreement granting citizens from both countries the ability to travel freely without visa requirements, the Sundaily reports.

According to the same source, the Foreign Affairs secretary-general, Datuk Ramlan Ibrahim and Morocco’s Ambassador to Malaysia Mohammed Reda Benkhaldoun signed a visa abolition agreement that will soon allow official and social visits to each other’s countries without visa for 90 days.

«The agreement shall come into force after all requirements have been fulfilled by both countries», Ramlan told the same source adding that around «3,000 people from either country travel to the other annually».

Bilateral relations are supposed to be boosted through the signing of this agreement as more senior officials will have the chance to go on business trips to the North African kingdom and vice versa. The Malaysian Foreign Affairs secretary-general also pointed out that 145 Malaysian nationals study in Morocco while 116 Moroccans carry their studies in the Asian country currently.

The new procedure will also have positive results when it comes to trade as the total trade between the two countries might rise compared to last year amounting RM388.39 million.
