Abdelmajid Dolmy, one of the greatest Moroccan footballers of all time, passed away Thursday at the age of 64 following a discomfort.
Nicknamed "Maâllem" (Maestro), Dolmy is one of those players who best illustrated the legendary team that participated to the World cup in Mexico.
The deceased, who will forever be engraved in the memory of the Moroccan national teaml with its rich history and human qualities, began his career in 1971 in Raja, a local team in Casablanca.
First, he was a sweeper and then midfielder of the Moroccan team and the Raja Club Athletic of Casablanca, with which he won three Cups of Throne.
Known as a disciplined player, Dolmy was the star of the RCA and of the Moroccan team, in particular with coach José Mehdi Faria, allowing his team to dominate the midfield.
He made his debut with the Atlas Lions in 1974 in a game against Senegal before winning the African Cup of Nations in Ethiopia with the Moroccan gold generation, the only continental title in The national game.
He played for the Moroccan national team at the 1984 summer Olympics and in the 1986 fifa wolrd cup finals. In 2006 he was named one of the best 200 African football players of the last 50 years by the Confederation of African Football.
