In a survey conducted by Trip.com, an American discovery and travel research application and website headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and published on Forbes magazine, the agency came out with a list of the 10 most dangerous places for solo female travelers. According to the ranking Morocco is placed as the second most dangerous destination for solo women travelers.

Forbes did not only rely on the list provided by Trip.com, it also stated detailed information given by the US. State department about these countries. As for the ranking, Egypt tops the 10-nations’s list followed by Morocco 2nd, Jamaica 3rd, India 4th, Peru 5th, Bahamas 6th, Colombia 7th, Ecuador 8th, Turkey 9th, and Guatamela 10th.

Reported by Forbes, the US state department considers Morocco as a dangerous country for its citizens claiming that «there's high potential for terrorist violence against U.S. citizens». «The State Department also warns that crime — aggressive panhandling, pick-pocketing, purse-snatching, street robberies, burglaries — is a serious concern, particularly in major cities and tourist areas», states the same source.

As an advice for solo women traveling to Morocco, Trip.com suggests that they have to «wear a cross-body bag, don’t flash valuables, walk with purpose».  It also advises these women to «avoid belly-baring shirts, short-shorts and strappy tank tops. The reality is, the less you wear, the more unwanted attention you’ll attract».

However, the results of the ranking do not make of Morocco a dangerous destination for tourists as the survey has focused only on a specific and limited category of tourists.
