Donald Trump, the president of the United States has finally denounced on Monday, August 14th the «racist violence» that took place in Virginia and led to the death of a female counter-protester during a rally organized by right-wing activists in Charlottesville, according to AFP news agency.

«Racism is evil», he said from the white house. «And those who cause violence on its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans».

«All those who have acted in a criminal way during the racist violence of this weekend will have to be held accountable, justice will be done», he added.

Two days after the clashes in Charlottesville that killed one and  wounded 19, Donald Trump had selected harsher words to describe the attack that those he used this weekend. Many journalists and politicians criticized him for his initial reactions : «We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides», he said in a statement. Reacting to that Kenneth Frazier, the economic advisor of Trump resigned. «As CEO of Mereck and as a matter of personal conscience, I feel a responsibility to take a stand against intolerance and extremism», he tweeted on Monday.

Earlier in the day, US Justice Minister Jeff Sessions described the attack as a terrorist attack. «This corresponds to the definition of domestic terrorism,» he said in an interview on ABC.
