Interior Advisor Joaquim Forn confirmed on Monday that the driver of the van that killed 14 people in Barcelona, and wounded more than a hundred others, is Younes Abouyaaqoub, according to El Mundo.

An international search and arrest warrant has been issued against him, although the Spanish authorities are not yet in a position to say whether he was able to leave Spain.

Younes Abouyaaqoub «is no longer only wanted in Catalonia but in all European countries,» said Joaquim Forn. The authorities, fearing that the assailant had managed to cross the French border, extended his report to the whole continent on Monday.

In an interview conducted by the Catalunya Ràdio, Joaquim Forn revealed that the death of a driver found dead in his car in Sant Just Desvern (province of Barcelona) is related to the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils. Pablo Pérez would thus be the 15th victim of these attacks.

At 22 years old, this young man from Morocco is the last member of the commando still on the run after the attacks in Catalonia. Born on January 1, 1995 in Mrirt, Morocco, this 22-year-old young man has lived all his life in Ripoll, a commune of nearly 10,000 inhabitants located in the Pyrenees, about one hundred kilometers (sixty miles) north of Barcelona, says BFM TV .

In his neighborhood, Younes Abouyaaqoub is described by his family and friends as a discreet, polite young man with no apparent signs of radicalization. For nearly a year, he worked as an electrician in a company in the region.
