Zaher Zenjli, a Spanish man of Moroccan origin living in Barcelona and working as a taxi driver has been one of Twitter's rising stars after the Catalonia attacks. According to El Mundo, the man who was on duty the day of Las Ramblas attack was stopped by two foreign tourists who wanted to flee the area that was the scene to a terror attack.
Zaher who did not know about what was happening refused and told them that he would rather go to the airport. However, when he heard on the radio a few minutes later about the ramming car attack, Zaher decided to go pick up injured people and terrified tourists who were trying to leave the area of Las Ramblas.
According to the same source, the Moroccan taxi driver stopped his car, and hung a note with «free service» displayed on it, then he spent the whole afternoon picking up terrified tourists and locals. Three of his clients jumped in his taxi and on their way home, they started talking bad about Moroccans not knowing that their savior was one. When they arrived to their destination, they wanted to pay Zaher who refused saying that «these people as you call them are not all the same».
Mi madre estaba a 2 calles de las Ramblas. Un taxista marroquí la ha llevado gratis a casa y le ha dicho q no todos son iguales. #Barcelona

One of the three passengers, Mercedes Pasamontes was really surprised by Zaher's generosity. She tweeted that night about what had happened to her and her elderly mother. The tweet went viral and everybody wanted to know about Zaher.
The Moroccan taxi driver who was born in Tripoli and lived all his life in Barcelona after his Larache-native parents immigrated to Europe, will participate to the march scheduled 8 days after the attack. He will stand next to policemen, firefighters and others who grew tired of discrimination, terrorism and hatred.
