Abdeljalil Abouhamada (91kg) and Mohamed Hamoute (60kg) refused to take part to the AIBA 2017 World Boxing Championships which was launched yesterday and will carry on until the 3rd of September in Hamburg, Germany. Their refusal is due to a delay in payment of compensation, informs 2M Tv channel today.

«The Moroccan Boxing Federation has not yet paid me my bonuses. I won the gold medal at the 2017 African Championships held in Congo from the 18th to 25th of June and I am still waiting for my allowances,» Abdeljalil Abouhamada told the same source. The boxer also mentioned that he did not receive his wages for the months of July and August 2017.

The 2017 African champion had alerted the members of the Federation in Casablanca at a meeting. «They promised us, Hamoute and I, that we will receive all our allowances. This Wednesday, they asked us to go to Germany to participate to the World Championships (...) We refused!», declares the young athlete.

Abdeljalil Abouhamada, pained by the situation promised to leave Morocco once and for all : «Several countries have offered me to be naturalized, notably Qatar, Canada, Spain and Germany. After this incident I began to think seriously about leaving Morocco and practicing boxing elsewhere.»
