Finland stabbing : The Moroccan suspect lied about his age

The Moroccan national who is suspected of killing two people and injuring 8 others during a stabbing attack on Friday the 18th of August in Turku, Finland has lied about his age. Identified by the Finnish authorities as Abderrahman Mechkah, the alleged murderer was born in Morocco in 1994, AFP reports.

According to the same source, «the police have interviewed the main suspect, and he is willing to communicate with the interviewing police officer», said the National Bureau of Investigation in a statement.

Mechkah, an asylum seeker whose application was rejected by the authorities before the attack has claimed before that he is 18 years old.

The police announced that Mechkah arrived to Finland in 2016 and was living in an immigration center. He targeted during the attack women and got shot in the hip by the police and arrested.

On the 22nd of August, the suspect appeared in court via a video call from the hospital where he admitted the manslaughter and injuries.
