Two men suspected of being linked to the two terrorist attacks in Catalonia on the 17th and 18th of August were arrested in Morocco. The Spanish Interior Minister Juan Ignacio Zoido said on Tuesday during an official visit to Rabat, reports the Spanish online newspaper Panorama, quoting AFP.

«Thanks to the ongoing cooperation between the two countries, the Moroccan security services have managed to arrest two individuals linked to the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils,» the minister said at a press briefing. Juan Ignacio Zoido has refused to give more details to avoid jeopardizing the investigations in progress, continues the French agency. The Spanish Interior Minister has arrived in Rabat to hold talks with his Moroccan counterpart, regarding the investigations into the twin terror attacks that killed 16 people and injured others.

The «Islamic State» has claimed responsibility over the two attacks that were carries out by a number of Moroccan nationals, AFP recalls. «The children of the second and third generations of Moroccan immigrants who were born in European countries need special attention ... to escape the clutches of terrorism, mainly in mosques or in the hands of certain extremist imams», he said.

The head of the Moroccan counterespionage, Abdellatif Hammouchi met the chief of the Spanish Intelligence services, Pablo Salas, informs AFP.
