Donald Trump has put an end to the DACA program, an immigration policy in the United States allowing certain immigrants who entered the country as minors to receive deferred action from deportation, the Guardian reports today.
According to the same source, 800,000 young undocumented migrants will face deportation after DACA was annulled. «I am here today to announce that the program known as Daca that was effectuated under the Obama administration is being rescinded», sessions said in a statement delivered from the Department of Justice headquarters in Washington as quoted by the Guardian.
The rescinded program is tasked with «giving work permits to people who were brought to the US illegally as children», the same source clarifies. Now new applications will be rejected while the ones already benefiting from Daca will lose their status by March 2020.
Congress, get ready to do your job - DACA!
