Jawad Bendaoud, also known as the «landlord» of the Saint-Denis jihadists will finally be convicted for «concealment of terrorist criminals». The 30-year-old has been sent to the criminal court, AFP reported on Friday (September 8th).

The judges believe that Jawad Bendaoud knew that he was hosting the perpetrators of the attacks, but without determining their criminal plans. In their order signed Wednesday, the investigating magistrates followed the requests of the Paris prosecutor's office and ordered that Jawad Bendaoud be tried for «concealment of terrorist criminals». The offense is punishable by six years of imprisonment, since he is a recidivist.

Jawad Bendaoud had provided the apartment in Saint-Denis where Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the supposed organizer of the attacks which killed 130 people and wounded 354, and another author of the killings, who had abandoned the plans, AFP recalls. He had been made famous by a video in which he clamored his innocence awkwardly, before being questioned live on the street, on November 18, 2015.

He had been charged six days later - for «criminal terrorist association for the purpose of committing violent action», a charge that is relevant to the Special Assizes Court - and incarcerated in solitary confinement at the Villepinte penitentiary (Seine-Saint-Denis).
