Will King Mohammed VI tackle Al Hoceima's delayed projects in his next speech ?

Once again it is the Palace that calls the shots when it comes to political action. King Mohammed VI presided over a meeting on Monday afternoon devoted to the presentation of a report on Al Hoceima. The latter was ordered by the sovereign to investigate the delayed projects in the region.

After weeks of lethargy, the political scene is finally starting to give a sign of life. Once again it is the palace that takes the initiative. After he undergone a successful pterygium surgery, King Mohammed VI presided on Monday afternoon a long-awaited meeting to present a report on the delayed projects in Al Hoceima and investigate why «Al Hoceima, the Mediterranean Lighthouse» program is not implemented yet.

It is important to recall that the sovereign had asked the Inspectorate-General in charge of territorial administration, under the supervision of the Interior Ministry, at the end of the councils of ministers held on the 25th of June, the General Finance Inspectorate controlled by the Ministry of Finance to conduct this report.

Waiting for the King’ speech on October the 13th

A communiqué issued by the Royal Cabinet announced on Monday (October the 2nd) that the two Ministries of Interior and Finance «submitted and explained to His Majesty the King the results of the reports commissioned by the sovereign regarding the implementation of 'Al Hoceima Manart al Motawassit' development program». Adding that these «reports focused on the people who were in charge of carrying out the program at the time of the events, including those who are no longer in office at the present time, knowing that the agreement that governs the program had been signed before the Sovereign in October 2015 in Tetouan».

«King Mohammed VI gave His High Instructions to the Court of Auditors, so that it does, within a maximum of 10 days, the examination of the same subject (…) and evaluates the execution of public projects, in addition to its usual missions of controlling public finances», adds the same source.

The 10-day delay demanded by the monarch brings us directly to the speech that the king will make on the occasion of the new parliamentary year, scheduled for Friday, October 13.

Prime Minister, Saâdeddine El Othmani, and the President of the Court of Auditors, Driss Jettou, also attended the meeting held on Monday afternoon.
