The Rabat Court of First Instance sentenced on Tuesday, Malika Mezzane, an Amazigh poet, to two months in jail for threatening to slaughter Arabs, her lawyer, Mohamed Almo told EFE news agency.
He explained that Mezzane, 57, was arrested on September the 17th and was charged for «threats and discrimination».
«We will appeal against the sentence with the hope that she will be found innocent», Almo told the same source.
For the record, the Amazigh poet posted a video (still available) on the internet, in which she showed support for the Iraqi Kurdistan Independence.
She stated through her video that «the Arabs of Iraq» referring to the Federal government, were opposed to the independence of Kurdistan, and that Berbers would expel Arabs from North Africa.
Mezzane who was held in Sale local prison is known for expressing her fanatic activism in social media in addition to showing great sympathy for the Kurd’s struggle in Iraq and Syria.
