The Italian authorities have expelled on Thursday 12th of October, a Moroccan national who is considered as a threat to the internal security of the state, said the Italian Ministry Interior in a statement, reported by EFE news agency.

The Moroccan man is suspected of having links with people affiliated to the jihadist movement. The 43-year-old man was repatriated by plane from Milan Malpensa International Airport to Casablanca.

According to the Ministry, the Moroccan national for whom an alert has been issued by the Italian authorities, was serving a prison sentence in Naples for offenses. At the time, he was in contact with a Tunisian arrested in 2008 for belonging to a terrorist organization.

The Italian government has expelled 83 people since the beginning of the year - 215 since January 2015 - in connection with religious extremism, for threatening the internal security of the state.
