Several thousands of Moroccan porters demand the intervention of King Mohammed VI to find a solution for the problems they have encountered for several days at the Tarajal border post, reports Ceuta Actualidad.

The porters have rejected the measures adopted recently by the Moroccan and Spanish authorities, «which prevent them from practicing their activities», reports local online newspaper, Tangier 24.

While the second border crossing has been closed regularly for a few months, bearers are finding it increasingly difficult to provide financially for their needs. On Monday, several thousand of them met at the border post, closed back then, to demand solutions. Several hundred people working in Ceuta were thus delayed by the long queues before being able to reach the city.

The Moroccan authorities were forced to close the Ceuta border post because of the large number of people and to avoid crowds.

The porters demand the opening of the second border crossing on working days, which the Moroccan and Spanish customs authorities have refused since crowd movements have caused the death of several porters, including a young women.
