The Moroccan security services reportedly prevented a Tunisian delegation of social activists who had come to Morocco on the 16th of October from entering Al Hoceima city, a number of human rights groups said in a joint statement published on E-Joussour, a website led by the Maghreb-Machrek ONG.
They are «observers of Hamid Mahdaoui's trial and other activists detained in Casablanca following the social unrest witnessed in the Rif region». «The delegation was composed of Tunisian social activists, sent by the Yaqadha Association, the Committee for the respect of freedom and human rights (CRLDHT) and the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES)», said the statement.
«Our friends Massaoud Romdhani and Ridha Raddaoui, members of the delegation accompanied by Mustapha Hattab, member of the Alternatives Forum in Morocco (FMAS), were faced with the security forces after a ten hour drive from Casablanca. At 45 km from El Houceima, they were prevented from accessing the city,» indicates the same source.
«We denounce this practice and the repressive path chosen by the Moroccan authorities that reminds us of the former regime in Tunisia. (...) We reiterate our commitment to continue the common struggle with all the social and civil forces in the region : for a democratic great Maghreb that respects human rights,» adds the same source.
