The Moroccan Royal Judo Federation, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, organized a seminar in Marrakesh preparing for the Judo World Championships Open 2017, which the city will host from November the 9th to the 12th. The competition will bring together more than 60 of the best judokas in the world, representing more than 40 countries in the world.
«The organization of this great international competition by the Royal Moroccan Judo Federation illustrates the collaboration and the mutual trust that exist between our federation and the International Judo Federation,» said Chafik El Kettani, president of the Moroccan Royal Judo Federation.
He added : «We will have the pleasure to welcome you in the mythical city of Marrakesh, one of the Imperial cities of the kingdom of Morocco, for an exceptional competition with exceptional athletes. We wish good luck to the athletes and a good stay for the participating delegations.»
The organization of this event by Morocco comes after the signing of an agreement between the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rachid Talbi Alami and the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Fizer, at the World Judo Championships in Budapest in last August. This agreement suggested that the Kingdom will host the Judo Grand Prize in 2018, the Judo-Junior World Championships in 2019 and the African Championship in 2020.
