Two Moroccan nationals were arrested earlier this morning during an operation carried out by the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Catalan police, in Sant Pere de Ribes, a municipality in the province of Barcelona, says the newspaper La Vanguardia. The two men are suspected of belonging to a terrorist cell linked to ISIS.
This operation is connected to an investigation initiated several months ago against individuals who promoted terrorism on social media, tweeted the Catalan police.
«Several profiles have been spotted, coordinating among themselves to praise and justify terrorist actions and groups, as well as inciting terrorist attacks,» added the Mossos d'Esquadra.
For the moment, no additional information has been provided to avoid affecting the investigation, which is still open.
