New York : A Moroccan woman assaulted by a group of teenagers for wearing a Hijab

A group of teenage girls has attacked a 51-year-old Moroccan veiled woman in downtown Brooklyn on Friday evening, the police said as reported by CBS News. The woman identified as Souad Kirama was at a restaurant where the assault occured.

«They attacked me, beat me up and people were just standing there, watching me be beat up, called a 'terrorist' and nobody did nothing. Nothing. Nobody stood up for me», said the woman in a Facebook live video, said the same source.

According to the victim, «viciously attacked by a bunch of teenagers», she told them to quiet down after they were throwing themselves on the floor and swinging on a chandelier. Responding to her comment, the teens called her a terrorist and asked her to go back to her country before approaching her, kicking, punching and spitting on her.

No one intervened to stop the stop the attack according to Samira. The New York City Police Department's Hate Crimes has openned an investigation to reveal teh circumstances of teh incident but np arrests have been made so far.

This is not the first time that a woman wearing a Hijab is assaulted in New York. In September, two Jewish women were verbally and physically assaulted by a drunken man who mistook them for Muslims at a Queens subway station.

The two Orthodox Jewish women, a daughter and her mother, were leaving the station when a 40-year-old man allegedly beaten them for looing like Muslims.
