Morocco’s bid committee launched on Tuesday Morocco’s 2026 World Cup campaign and logo in a press conference held in Casablanca. Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy and chairman of the committee attended the event alongside Rachid Talbi Alami, Minister of Sports and Fouzi Lekjaa, head of Morocco’s Football Federation.

Talking numbers, it was stated in the conference that between 120 and 130 million dirhams will be invested to cover the 2026 World Cup expenses, the equivalent of what has been spent for the previous bids. Six stadiums are ready to host the tournament while eight adjustable ones are to be added to the list.

Nasser Larguet, head of Mohammed VI Football academy told Yabiladi that Morocco «has shown its ability to organize two World Club Cups, in addition to CHAN, hosted currently by the Kingdom». The country has proven «its organizational capabilities, whether in terms of hotels, transportation means, as well as existing football fields.»

Larguet is optimistic about Morocco's chances of hosting the 2026 World Cup. «We have to believe in our abilities and we have every chance of being chosen. We've already failed four times, we have to learn from our mistakes.»

For Morad Moutawakil, a sports journalist : «It is fine to believe in it. Do not be afraid of the competitors. These are not opponents but competitors. We will work on our arguments, as explained by the members of the bid committee. We are going to take care of ourselves, without focusing on others’ flaws», he told Yabiladi. He added : «We will fight and work, as the Minister said, to show the best of what we have, and which I hope will get us to the end.»

«It requires the mobilization of everyone, now that a lot of things have changed in FIFA».
