Tunisia and Morocco are the new target market of Opel. The German car manufacturer, a subsidiary of the French group PSA, plans to export cars to the two North African countries from its European factories, said Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller in an interview published on Monday by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, reports Reuters.

«We see good opportunities for us overall», he said, adding that he was not afraid of seeing Opel sales absorb PSA sales in the North African region. The latter justifies soberly: «There are buyers who choose knowingly a French brand and others who do the same for a German brand.»

PSA finalized last August the acquisition of the automotive activities of Opel and Vauxhall, former European subsidiaries of General Motors, in a transaction valuing these activities to 2.2 billion Euros, recalls Reuters. The German manufacturer has until 2020 to generate profit.
