Morocco is not having direct negotiations with the Polisario, announced this afternoon the Minister of Relations with Parliament, and the government spokesman during a press briefing. On the same line as Nasser Bourita, Mustapha El Khalfi said «no meeting is scheduled,» reports Alyaoum24.

The Polisario Front declared that it supports the relaunching of direct negotiations with the kingdom under the United Nations’s auspices.

For the record, the first direct negotiations carried out by the United Nations date back to June 2007 in Manhasset (New York). Representatives from both Morocco and the Polisario met again in August 2007, January and March 2008, but without reaching a solution.

The Polisario Front and Algeria then demanded the departure of the UN personal envoy Peter Van Walsum. In September 2008, the Dutch UN official resigned. Since then holding direct negotiations had been discarded.
