Hirak : Six activists sentenced to 3 and 6 years in prison

Al Hoceima Appeal Court sentenced on Tuesday, 20th of February, six Hirak activists to three and six years in prison for participating in demonstrations in the Rif, judicial sources told EFE.

Two of these activists were sentenced to six and five years in prison, while the other four were sentenced to three years in prison.

They have been accused of «insulting officials and representatives of the authority while on duty», «insulting and threatening» public bodies. They are also prosecuted for «destroying public property» and «participating in unauthorized assemblies».

The court has also decided to postpone until March the 5th and 6th the trial of 23 minors for their participation in social protests in the Rif, 12 of them are currently in pretrial detention in a juvenile center.
