Mauritanian Prime Minister, Yhya Ould Hademine, received, Thursday,  Abdelkader Taleb Omar, the former «prime minister» for the Polisario Front.

«The meeting focused on the Sahara issue, especially the UN and the bilateral meetings held between the parties concerned to find a peaceful solution, taking into account the right of Sahrawis to self-determination», he told the Mauritanian news agency.

«The latest decision published by the European Court and the impact it holds on the area as well as the African Union and its goals were in the heart of the meeting», added Taleb Omar.

The Polisario envoy was unable to meet President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz. The latter was in Brussels where he took part, on the same day, in a summit on financing the G5 force in the Sahel.

Earlier this month, a Mauritanian delegation led by Foreign Minister Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izidbih met with Horst Kohler in Berlin.

Supported by Algeria, the Front is trying to make Mauritania join the club.
