SDX Energy, a British oil company operating in both Egypt and Morocco, announced on Thursday, 8th of March, that it has made a new discovery onshore Morocco, most precisely in the SAH-2 well at the Sebou project, reports Proactive Investors.
The SAH-2 well, which will be completed and tested before the start of production operations, was drilled down to 1,304 meters and contained up to 5.2 meters of net conventional gas pay, across the two zones of Guebbas and Hoot. According to the same source, the well is under «prognosis» although the thickness of the reservoir was beyond expectations.
«We are very pleased to be able to announce another discovery, the fifth from seven wells drilled to date in our nine well Moroccan campaign,» said Paul Welch, SDX chief executive.
«This was also the first well in the Gharb basin that was successfully drilled using downhole directional tools which allowed us to penetrate the crest of two individual targets with a single well-bore», he concluded.
For the record, the Sebou permit, located in the Rharb basin, was acquired by SDX Energy in January 2017. 2D and 3D seismic surveys were carried out on the majority of the region of Sebou and sixteen wells have been drilled to date, thirteen of them were successful of 81%.
