The city of Dakhla is to host from the 15th to the 20th of March a new edition of the Crans Montana Forum. Once again, the Polisario conducts a campaign against the organization of the annual event.
Brahim Ghali has already asked the African Union in a letter sent to its president, Paul Kagame, to intervene and stop the organization of the forum. Meanwhile, his representative in Brussels is calling for the same thing.
In New York, a journalist was mandated to ask the spokesman of the UN Secretary-General on the subject. During a daily press briefing on March the 12th, Stephan Dujarric replied to the question on Crans Montana saying : «as for the holding of this event, we have no particular comment, and I'm not aware of any UN participation in it».
For the record, Philippe Douste-Blazy, who was the special advisor of the former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, on innovative financing, took part in the 2015 edition of the forum. A visit that embarrassed the UN to the point of publishing a note to the press, stating that the Frenchman was in Dakhla «exclusively in his individual capacity».
