Police arrests a driver who attempted to ram soldiers in France

On Thursday morning, a stolen car tried to ram French soldiers near Varces (Isère), reports Le Dauphiné libéré, quoting sources close to the file. No one was injured in the attempted attack, said the same source, adding that the police is looking for the assailant who is on the run.

Quoted by the newspaper, the public prosecutor in Grenoble, Jean-Yves Coquillat, said that «we must remain cautious regarding the motives of the attacker». An investigation has been opened, said teh same source.

Jean-Yves Coquillat also stated that the driver «insulted the soldiers in Arabic and tried to hit them». The soldiers dived into a ditch to avoid the oncoming car.

The driver is still on the run; while a second individual who was in the same car is also wanted. The alleged driver was arrested in the market square of Harlequin Villeneuve de Grenoble. A second operation is underway, while the police is determined to identity of the suspect.
