This year, the Trump administration will not draft the resolution on Western Sahara. This decision comes as the United Kingdom, France and Spain are trying to fill the gap.

A few weeks before presenting its report before the Security Council, London is trying to impose its will. Nevertheless, Paris and Madrid have other projects. The two countries are allegedly preparing a joint text that they should submit to members of the «Western Sahara Friends» club, which brings together the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, France and all permanent members of the Security Council, as well as Spain.

Once validated by the representatives of the five states, the draft resolution on the Sahara will be then submitted to the other members of the SC for adoption.
