The Oujda Court of First Instance on Friday handed suspended sentences ranging from four months to one year in prison against seven accused sued as part of Jerada events.
Two accused were sentenced to one year suspended sentence in prison, while a four-month suspended sentence was given to five defendants in addition to a fine of 500 dirhams for each of them.
The court also sentenced all the suspects involved in this case to pay a symbolic dirham to the plaintiff.
The defendants were sued in particular for insulting civil servants while on duty and for violence against them resulting in premeditated injuries.
They were also sued for their alleged involvement in acts of vandalism and damage to public property, incitement to disobedience, failure to assist persons in danger and incitement to commit crimes and offences.
